Nordwind was built in 1939. Commissioned by the German Navy as a Naval Academy training vessel, she was designed by Henry Gruber and built by the Bootswerft Burmester. She is currently owned by Dr Hans Albrecht and family, skippered and crewed by Michel Virenque and his wife Penny James.
